FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ #1: WHY “COLD WEATHER COMFORT”?

When I first started blogging I was living in New York and blogged under the name The Brooklyn Cook, which was a great name...until I was transferred to San Francisco for work. A little rebranding was needed.

I found that the food I would cook time and time again was the comfort food I grew up eating in winter. And that's how Cold Weather Comfort was born. Fast forward a few years and I'm now in Boston and the Name Cold Weather Comfort truly fits what I do.

FAQ #2: WHERE CAN I FOLLOW YOU ON SOCIAL MEDIA?

Cold Weather Comfort is active on  Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter.

FAQ #3: WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH WRITING BEFORE THE RECIPE CARDS?

Cold Weather Comfort is more than just a recipe site, it's a resource for all things cold weather comfort food. I like to give context to the recipe, tips and tricks and also answer any common questions. Because my readers come with a variety of cooking skills, I cover all my bases and give enough info so that even the most novice of chefs can enjoy recipes from my site.

That being said, sometimes you want to get to the recipe fast! If you wish to skip the text of the blog post, there is a convenient “Jump to Recipe” button at the top of every post, which will take you directly to the recipe card. There is also a “Print Recipe” button in this same location that will take you to the print screen.

FAQ #4: WHY DO YOU RUN ADS ON YOUR SITE?

To be able to offer you a steady stream of recipes, free of charge!

Running a website has a lot of costs from hosting, photography equipment, food for cooking and marketing costs. By running Ads, I get a portion of my upfront costs covered so that I can continue to provide you free delicious recipes at no cost to you!

FAQ #5: WHY DIDN’T THIS RECIPE WORK FOR ME?

I'm so sorry it didn't work for you!

Since there are a lot of variables in each kitchen setup, it may be hard to pinpoint what exactly went wrong. Factors like elevation, stove type, equipment used, recipe substitutions, etc all play a part in how the recipe is made. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment on the post or reach out to me directly through the Contact page.

FAQ #6: Can I share this recipe?

I love that you like my recipe enough that you wish to share it! here's a quick rundown of what I ask for if you are sharing a post

Sharing a Post in Full: Ok so this is one of the things I'd prefer for you not to do because it's essentially plagiarism if you copy what I wrote word for word. Giving a summary in your own words is fine and backlinking is always appreciated.

Sharing an excerpt: I'm ok if you share a quote, so long as you credit me and link back to the original post.

Sharing a photo: I'm ok if you share a photo as long as it credits me and links back to the original post

Adapting/Reposting a Recipe: First of all I'm flattered! If you are adapting or reposting the recipe you'll need to credit me and provide a direct link. You'll also need to rewrite the recipe instructions and post in your own words.

FAQ #7: I WORK FOR A BRAND OR PR FIRM. DO YOU DO YOU PUBLISH SPONSORED POSTS OR CONSIDER BRAND PARTNERSHIPS?

Yes, and I’d love to discuss working together! Read more HERE.
